The first poem I wrote was for my mom for Mother’s Day. That was in the third grade. I would always write little personal notes in birthday cards for family and friends. I think this was the foundation of my becoming a poet. My mom always told me “boy, you need to do something with those words.” In the early 90s, I remember sending a collection of poems to a publisher and remember getting a letter back, stating that they would gladly publish my book for a hefty price.
A little dejected, I put off that dream of getting publish until 2012. With encouragement from family, friends, and co-workers, I started the process of getting my poetry published. I researched different publishers and read their requirements. I decided to go with self-publishing, feeling that this was the right direction for me.
I came across CreateSpace while doing an online search and I liked what they had to offer. With proofreading help from some of the teachers I work with and nerve-racking detailed proofreading of my own, my first poetry collection Life through Celestial Lenses was published in October of 2012 through CreateSpace. A dream come true. In May of this year, my second poetry collection, The Darkness, The Light, And The Glory, was published, also through CreateSpace and the e-book through Smashwords.
I truly love writing. I love creating with words and my desire is to inspire and encourage. I have met so many wonderful people through blogging, very talented and inspiring. I believe that you should never give up on yourself or your dreams. We are all blessed with talents and gifts; we just need to believe in ourselves.

Amused Now exclusive poem by Sylvester Anderson:
Respire
Alive today
And I feel it
The sights and sounds
The aroma of life
Breathe in, breathe out
Life is all around
Alive today
God’s grace provides a way
God makes it possible
God’s love written all over this day
At the core
From the crown of my head
To the bottom of my feet
I am alive
Breathe in, breathe out
Thank you, God
