It has been said that I play the tunes you like to hear in my own unique style. This saying could not be more true, and it is found in bold letters on my website. Not to sound full of myself, but I do consider myself to be multi-talented and I have my hand in just about everything music.

To give acknowledgement to my entertainment abilities and unique style, Roy Raftis the C.E.T. President in Edmonton, AB said this about a past Christmas party: “Everyone told me this was the best Christmas party that we have had, and I attribute the success of our weekend to you getting us started with the Friday night entertainment.”

As an artist, in addition to my own songs, I also like to cover other artist’s songs and turn them into something different. They all have one thing in common: They are all “Jimmified”.

When I’m not doing classic remakes, I like to focus on my music, which includes everything from jazz to reggae to pop and anything that comes in between.  I recently wrote a smooth jazz song called Agi’s Tune, which I dedicated to my late wife who lost her battle with cancer. Another song that I recently released was Dear Mr. Benson, which pays homage to one of my biggest idols, George Benson. Although these two songs are not all that I have written, they prove to be the most emotionally captivating for me. These songs have been played on various radio stations, including KSBR 88.5 FM, KJJZ 102.3 FM and on SmoothJazz.com Global Radio.

I love to perform all over the world.  I was born in the US, but at an early age, I moved to Germany because my father was in the Army.  My family moved from place to place and base to base, allowing me to see many countries of the world.

As a multi-faceted performer, I perform as a solo artist with my jazz band The Jimmy Dale Band and with my reggae band IRIE.  I have also played with many A-list musicians, such as The Drifters, The Platters, The Coasters, Little Anthony & The Imperials, and many more. I have even opened for the incredible Ziggy Marley.

During one of the many times that I was living in Germany, I decided to learn to play the guitar, all because I saw the movie A Hard Day’s Night by The Beatles. Ever since I saw that movie, I was lost in the life of music forever. Soon after getting lost in this new world, I started my first band called The Thoughts. We soon began playing local proms and schools in Germany. During the success of my first band, I got the news that yet again I would be moving. This time, it was to the sunny state of California.

There I attended UC Santa Cruz. I also attended Berklee College of Music in Boston to seriously study music. After college, I moved to Los Angeles to further my music career and I have not looked back since.

My advice to other aspiring musicians and artists is: Be yourself, don’t let others’ opinions of your music control yours.  And, don’t think supporting yourself as a musician is a given nor will it ever be a breeze.
