Liz Lohnes<\/p><\/div>\n

Meet the delightful Liz Lohnes, our ReverbNation contest winner in the pop genre. Liz\u2019s personality is a lovely as her singing voice. We selected Liz Lohnes, because we adore her single Fly Away<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I also love her song Where You Are<\/em>, with its influences of soul. Liz explained, \u201cI actually started singing at a blues jam that my parents used to take me to, so the first genre of music I ever sang was blues. So, I definitely have a little bit of the soul vibe in there.\u201d Liz smiled and added, \u201cIt\u2019s a love song about just wanting to be with the person that you love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liz Lohnes describes her music as, \u201cit\u2019s mid-tempo, with an R&B, pop and soul type of feel.\u201d She has a wide range of musical influences, \u201cI listen to all different kinds of genres. My parents are a big reason why I\u2019m into the music that I\u2019m into. I was raised listening to Aretha Franklin. My dad always loved Stevie Wonder. I personally love Beyonc\u00e9. Who doesn\u2019t?\u201d<\/p>\n

Liz writes, composes and sings her own music. \u201cI started taking voice lessons as a teenager, but I\u2019ve always been singing. I began singing at community plays, so I have a bit of musical theater background. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music (in Boston), so that\u2019s a big part of my development as a writer.<\/p>\n

The very first song that Liz Lohnes wrote is Why\u2019d You Turn Your Back On Me?<\/em> , written in eighth grade. \u201cI still have it up on my ReverbNation page. A lot of people think it\u2019s a break-up song, but it\u2019s actually about being in that transition stage from junior high to high school. My best friend went off with the cool kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"LizLiz Lohnes is looking to do more collaboration with other artists in the future. \u201cI haven\u2019t done a lot of it in the past. I do love collaborating with other songwriters, who can add that little bit extra or something different to the music. I\u2019m always open to songwriters and other artists who are talented and have that constant, creative mind going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

When I asked Liz how she uses social media, she describes, \u201cThe internet is this amazing place, because you have access to everyone, all over the world. It\u2019s great for artists, because you can find all different kinds of people that you wouldn\u2019t have been able to reach without social media. I like to interact with and keep in touch with the people who enjoy my music. It\u2019s all about staying in touch with the people that support you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liz advises other artists to, \u201cJust get out there and perform and meet other artists. When artists support other artists, that leads to collaboration. The more you can network, the better it will be, the more people will remember your name and you\u2019ll get more opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Right now, Liz Lohnes is working on a brand new project, starting completely from scratch with new producers. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be an EP that will eventually turn into an album. It\u2019s currently in pre-productions, but I am going into the studio next week to record the first song for that project. I\u2019m really excited about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The title for this new EP is a working title, but you can look for first song in the near future, and that is going to be called Lov3 Sounds<\/em>. I\u2019m already on the lookout for it.<\/p>\n
