Frank Peters

Frank Peters has such a unique rap style, he calls himself an alternative rap artist. When I asked Frank what makes him alternative, he replied: “I don’t do what most people consider the norm in rap. I march to my own tune. I don’t conform to what everybody else does.”

Frank describes his music as “feel good music, party music. My music has different levels to it. It’s very lyrical and it has substance, so it’s not just basic rhymes. ”

I listened to all Frank Peters’ songs on ReverbNation and I agree, his approach to rap is quite unique. My favorite single is Getting It In, because he leads with a line one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs Living Loving Maid (She’s Just A Woman), something you definitely would not expect to hear from a rap artist. As Frank explains, “When I heard the beat, I immediately fell in love with it. I wanted to write something to it. The song is fast-paced, so I had to write something to keep up. It was fun to write.”

I also love Frank Peters’ single Until 2Marrow. The amazing singing at the beginning of the song and throughout the chorus is performed by Venom Vendetta, the song’s producer, who also wrote the back beat. Frank told me, “He’s a great producer and a great guy.” Then, he gave Venom a generous #ShoutOut: “You do wonderful work. It’s always a pleasure working with you. You know that.”

Born in Portugal, Frank Peters now produces his music from his home base in Columbia, SC. “As a baby, I was born and raised in Portugal. My father was in the service. We moved to Boston until I was 6 or 7, then we moved to Atlanta for a while.” His parents divorced, so throughout middle school and high school, “It alternated between here and Atlanta, because it’s only three hours away. My mom stayed in Atlanta.”

Frank Peters started writing lyrics in high school. “I hooked up with a couple of guys and recorded a song called Can’t Fade the Cisco. I honed my career and craft over the years, working with different people. That’s what helped me really get where I’m at. I’m my biggest critic, so I feel that I still have a lot more to offer, to bring, as far as my versatility in music. I’m always continuously working to improve.”

Frank Peters performing As we discussed, Frank Peters has performed overseas and collaborated with many artists, so I asked him what he skills he looks for before he decides to collaborate. “Before I work with someone, I want to make sure I’m working with a person who’s serious about their craft and they have good music. I don’t want to work with someone who’s half-stepping it and who’s not up to par, because then I won’t be putting my best foot forward.”

Frank Peters has hired Alysia Stern to help with public relations. On the social media side, “I’m constantly on Twitter and Facebook and ReverbNation. I actually have my own free app titled Frank Peters that you can get for free on any iTunes or Android platform. I try to keep it current.”

When I asked Frank his sage advice for other artists, he immediately replied, “Stay dedicated. Stay dedicated and stay focused, especially if you truly believe in yourself. There’s going to be times when people tell you that you’re not good. There’s going to be times when you put a lot of work and a lot of effort into things, and everything may not come as fast as you want it to. As long as you stay focused and believe in yourself, then positive things will happen.”

He continued, “Always surround yourself with positive people, because that will bring out the best in you. That’s what it’s all about.”

So, what’s up next for Frank Peters? He’s reading a script for a suspense movie that will be shot in London. Wow! “I’m going to see if I like it. If I get one of the roles, then I’ll probably be out there doing the movie thing.”

We wish Frank the best of luck! We look forward to possibly seeing Frank Peters on the big screen.
